A DAY IN THE LIFE:

The Sous Chef and Assistant Sous Chefs will work closely with the Executive Chef to create, implement, and support efficiency and communication in the kitchen. Responsibilities include:

Kitchen Operations:

  • Ensure consistent and smooth running of food production
  • Ensure standards are adhered to in the production and preparation of food – in quality, quantity, and safety
  • Manage prep lists
  • Maintain kitchen staff schedule
  • Maintain a clean working environment
  • Manage kitchen equipment maintenance

Goods and Produce:

  • Ensure effective stock purchase, receipt, and storage
  • Monitor quality of purchases
  • Ensure proper food handling and rotation
  • Manage food waste
  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships

Leadership:

  • Promote good team spirit, regularly
  • Give appropriate support or guidance to members of the kitchen when the need arises
  • Ensure the kitchen staff works harmoniously to guarantee timely production of quality food
  • Perform other administrative tasks as communicated by management
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training of staff
  • Know and enforce all health code & food safety requirements
  • Ensure and enforce a safe and respectful work environment

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000
